NBA expert picks, odds for Celtics at Bucks and Grizzlies at Warriors Game 6s

the epic Celtics vs. bucks series shifts back to Milwaukee on Friday night after Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 40 points and Jrue Holiday made a timely defensive play to help cap off a huge fourth-quarter comeback. It’s weird but all of the pressure seems to be on the Celtics and finding a way to extend the series and eventually win a Game 7 at home.

the Golden State Warriors put up a stinker on Wednesday night and almost laughed it off after. Golden State trailed by more than 50 points at one point. In a playoff game! The Warriors don’t seem too concerned about closing out the grizzlies without Yes Morant in this series.

Friday’s NBA Playoff schedule:

  • Game 6: Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks — 7:30 pm ET — ESPN

Game 5: bucks 110, Celtics 107 | Bucks lead 3-2

Who was the guy? Giannis Antetokounmpo. The words “Herculean effort” get thrown around in sports all the time. But the Milwaukee Bucks won this game because of the Herculean effort Giannis gave throughout Game 5. The Boston Celtics would go through massive stretches completely controlling the game and keeping the Bucks at bay with a double-digit lead. And Antetokounmpo would battle back and keep throwing himself toward the rim like a battering ram. Eventually, he knocked the doors off the hinges of this comeback. He had 40 points and 11 rebounds. It wasn’t always pretty. He committed seven turnovers to just three assists. But he made sure the Celtics felt the relentlessness of his attack all game long, and eventually, he got the help necessary to win.

What was the key here? The Bucks’ fourth-quarter effort. Yes, the Bucks outscored the Celtics 33-21 in the fourth quarter, but it’s the way they did it that was the key to this comeback. The Celtics led by as many as 14 points in the fourth. Milwaukee stormed back by dominating the 3-point line. Milwaukee struggled all game to knock down deep shots but went 6-of-6 from long distance in the final 12 minutes. What did the Celtics shoot? They didn’t. They didn’t attempt a single 3-pointer, not even when they needed a 3-point shot to tie the game at the end. The Bucks shut down the perimeter and made them earn everything inside the arc.

Game 5: grizzlies 134, warriors 95 | Warriors lead 3-2

Who was the guy? Tyus Jones. Seems like the bone bruise on Yes Morant‘s knee is going to keep him out for the duration of this playoff series, and we don’t know if he’ll play in the conference finals should Memphis advance. So Jones’ play becomes paramount to how this team is able to hang with the Golden State Warriors the rest of this series. Jones was spectacular in his start for the Grizzlies. His ability at the point guard position was a big reason the Grizzlies were able to win without Morant this season. He set the tone early and tallied 21 points and nine assists with zero turnovers in 24 minutes.

What was the key here? The Grizzlies came to play, and the Warriors didn’t. I’d love to have some brilliant analysis for you as to why this game happened, but there isn’t one. The Grizzlies were incredible. The Warriors were abysmal. And those two performances had a collision course.

Key stat: 55. As in the Warriors were down by 55 points in this game at one point.
